In-Line Pigging Solutions Ltd. (ILPS) is a leading pipeline integrity solutions provider, comprised of over 100 personnel across North America, with offices in Calgary, Regina, and Houston. What began as a family-founded business has grown into a team known for its depth of experience and ability to deliver value. At ILPS, our people are the difference. From experienced field crews to technical and project leadership, our team brings a practical, operator-focused approach to every project, delivering safe, efficient, and dependable results.
Richard Thul
Chairman of the Board
Meet Richard, the visionary founder behind the remarkable success of In-Line Pigging Solutions. With an impressive legacy spanning over three decades, Richard has played an instrumental role in shaping the landscape of pipelining, surveying, and pigging across the expansive North American pipeline system.
From the very inception of In-Line Pigging Solutions, Richard's unwavering commitment to excellence and his deep-rooted expertise have propelled the company to unprecedented heights. His leadership style is characterized by a willingness to take calculated risks and an unshakable trust in the capabilities of his employees and collaborators. It's this unique blend of visionary thinking and genuine belief in people that has transformed In-Line into the industry titan it is today.
While his journey as the founder remains a cornerstone of In-Line's history. He remains actively involved in the company's vision and reputation, offering his sought-after guidance and expertise on intricate integrity digs and In-Line Inspection (ILI) projects. His approach ensures that In-Line Pigging Solutions continues to push boundaries and set new industry standards.
Beyond the boardroom and pipeline projects, Richard's passions take him to the pickleball courts. As both a player and a teacher, he finds joy in introducing others to the fast-paced and addictive sport of pickleball. It's in these moments of play and instruction that Richard's approachable and collaborative spirit shines through.
Tim Collis
President
Tim Collis is a seasoned professional whose career has been a testament to expertise and dedication in the realm of aircraft mechanics and pipeline integrity. With a solid foundation in aeronautical engineering, he commenced his professional journey as an aircraft mechanic, serving the Canadian Air Force for over a decade. His tenure in the Air Force honed his meticulous attention to detail and instilled a deep sense of discipline and precision in his work.
Transitioning to the pipeline industry, Collis embarked on an 18-year career trajectory that delved into the complex landscape of pipeline integrity. His extensive experience encompasses a spectrum of vital roles, including Inline Inspection Operations and Program Management. His proficiency extends to performing inspections on challenging, unpiggable pipeline segments, showcasing a remarkable ability to tackle and solve intricate problems in the pipeline infrastructure.
A standout feature of Collis's career lies in his expertise in pipeline reactivation projects, where he has played a pivotal role in revitalizing inactive pipeline segments, ensuring their safety and functionality.
His unwavering commitment to ensuring pipeline safety and functionality has solidified his reputation as a reliable and skilled professional within the industry. Collis's legacy stands as a testament to his passion for ensuring the integrity of essential infrastructure and his ability to navigate the complexities of pipeline systems with expertise and finesse.
Haddow Thul
Haddow Thul is a long tenured employee of In-Line Pigging Solutions which has led him to his role as the Business Develoment Manager. Haddow began his pipeline integrity career with In-Line in 2011 where he started surveying, tracking tools, and supporting pig runs in the field. Haddow developed his academic foundation at Mount Royal University garnering a Bachelor of General Management and Minor in Entrepreneurship with Honours from the Bissett School of Business.
Haddow has supported many different departments and roles with ILPS which has provided him a deep understanding of the organization and industry. Combining his academics with a strong understanding of the organization and industry his mission is to provide innovative solutions to customers and colleagues throughout the industry. He has a passion for the industry and all of the good people that work within it.
On Haddow’s off time you can expect to find him partaking in physical activity such as pickleball, hockey, skiing with family and friends.
Nic Smith
Started at In-Line in 2014 in a project support role and has grown internally to the Technology Development Manager. He has acquired a good understanding of GIS, project execution, and manages our new technology integrations and implementations, as well as upgrading existing technologies. Prior to working at In-Line Nic worked professionally doing gravity surveying where he learned the field side of survey and GPS systems.
His original education was at the UofC where he earned a bachelor of science in Astrophysics. A few years after that he earned an applied bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, and has continued his passion for learning with ongoing classes in computer science, data science, and managerial techniques.
When he isn't working Nic loves to be in the mountains where he enjoys hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, skiing, and ski touring. Being born and raised in Calgary has stimulated a passion for being active and he also enjoys running - completing his first marathon in 2023. He also grew up playing hockey and still plays to this day.
Pavle Canji
Pavle Canji is the Director of Canadian Operations at In-Line Pigging Solutions, with over 20 years of experience in pipeline integrity, operations, and leadership across North America.
Pavle brings a strong background in both field execution and strategic oversight, having led large-scale integrity programs and multidisciplinary teams throughout his career. Prior to joining ILPS, he spent over a decade with a major pipeline operator, where he was responsible for asset integrity programs, damage prevention and public awareness, and risk management across pipeline and facility systems. He has played an active role in advancing industry practices through long-standing involvement with CEPA committees, including leadership within the Pipeline Integrity Community of Practice.
At ILPS, Pavle is responsible for leading Canadian operations, supporting strategic growth, and ensuring consistent delivery across projects. His approach combines technical expertise with a focus on safety, performance, and strong client partnerships.
Beau Kastrow
Beau Kastrow is ILPS’ US Operations Manager, bringing nearly two decades of hands-on experience in pipeline integrity and operations.
Since joining ILPS in 2019 as an ILI Coordinator and Project Manager, Beau has played a key role in the company’s continued growth and operational development across the United States. In 2023, he stepped into the role of US Operations Manager, where he oversees US assets and resources with a strong focus on safety, execution, team development, and operational efficiency.
Under Beau’s leadership, ILPS has continued to expand its US presence, growing both its team and operational capabilities while strengthening client relationships and delivering reliable, high-quality service. Known for his innovative mindset and unwavering dedication, Beau is an integral part of the ILPS team and plays an important role in shaping the company’s culture and operational success.
